About Us

This is how we do...

Food Not Bombs is a group that collects unused food from local grocery stores, bakeries, markets and farms, then uses the food to prepare meals for anyone who is hungry. The food we use is food that would otherwise be thrown away. In this way, we help to fight the wasteful nature of our society. The food we give away is 100 per cent free, and anyone who is hungry is welcome to eat with us; in this way, we reduce the exclusivity that characterises the current methods of food supply.

Food Not Bombs is both a local and an international group. The concept of Food Not Bombs is an international idea, and there is a huge network of Food Not Bombs chapters. Every different Food Not Bombs chapter, however, is completely independent and has the ability to make decisions based on the needs of its community. Every Food Not Bombs chapter does similar stuff (taking unused food and cooking it into meals), but the method each chapter uses to hand the food out varies from place to place.
